R&D Attack From Yiğit Akü
YİĞİT AKÜ ESTABLISHED 1 MILLION DOLLAR LABORATORY IN ORDER TO DEVELOP LITHIUM-ION BATTERY FOR ELECTRIC CARS…
LABORATORY WHICH IS AMONG THE LIMITED R&D STATIONS OF EUROPE IS A FIRST ALSO IN TURKEY…
Yiğit Akü following all developments in automotive sector closely established R&D laboratory that will carry out the development works on lithium-ion batteries required for electric vehicles, rising trend of the world. While the laboratory established with 1 million dollar investment is a first in Turkey, it is a candidate for being one of the limited R&D stations of Europe.
While shortening life of petroleum reserves in the world forces all technology firms to search in alternative energy sources, automotive sector is in the search of covering longer distance with electrical energy to be used from battery in the first stage. Yiğit Akü raising its level in R&D Works in Turkey each passing day established a R&D station for working on chargeable lithium-ion batteries, shortly called as LI-ON, used in electric cars. After one-year feasibility period for R&D laboratory in which 1 million dollar was invested, literature research was carried out and establishment of laboratory was completed.
66 SCIENTISTS WILL WORK
Yiğit Akü ranked among the limited firms of sector with 35 years' history intends to make impression in the sector with research and development works. While laboratory in which 66 scientists will work is a first in Turkey, it is a candidate for being one of the limited R&D centers of Europe.
4 PERCENT INVESTMENT IN R&D
Dr. Hulki Büyükkalender, General Manager of Yiğit Akü, said that R&D works in the automotive sector are of great importance, as Yiğit Akü they raised the level of Turkey by means of investments in this field. Büyükkalender pointed out that share allocated from national income for R&D investments in Turkey remained below 1 percent for years and said that “As Yiğit Akü, we allocate resource for R&D works in increasing amounts each year. While we directed 0.5 percent of our turnover for research and development works in 2002, we increased this figure to 2 percent in 2008. We will conduct R&D Works with 4 percent of our turnover in 2011”.
“OUR TARGET IS BEING FIRST IN LI-ON BATTERY PRODUCTION”
As a technology firm, Büyükkalender stated that they are following the changes in the world closely and conducting works for playing role in these developments and said the following statements:
“Yiğit Akü aims to carry its works in electric vehicle batteries to a new and advanced line each passing day. We give priority to this issue in the shaping of our R&D investments. We set forth this with our new-established laboratory. Our target is being first in production of Li-on batteries which are the battery of electric vehicles.”
